No One Cares What You Had for Lunch

Yes, I know, it's getting to be a habit to have these hiatuses between episodes. Bear with us. Planning the Ball in addition to our respective day jobs are beating us down. We'll be back real soon with the promised George Hrab vs. Jonathan Coulton deathmatch and other cool stuff. But while I have you here, I feel like name dropping. While maybe no one cares what I had for lunch, I would like to mention someone who I had lunch with recently. I had the pleasure of meeting and having lunch with Jack Mangan, AKA the author of Spherical Tomi, Duel of the Fates, and host of the Deadpan Podcast. It was a good meal and a fine chat. I'm hoping to interview him soon as well. Stay tuned for that. Well, diving back into the thick of things... be back soon!

Apple now claims trademark on “Podcast”

To this day I do not own an iPod. My Palm Zire72 makes a better MP3 player AND I can watch movies AND I can play games AND I can record voice memos AND I can surf the web AND I can keep up with my appts AND…

News like this just reminds me why I don’t own an iPod. But I still have a “Podcast”. You don’t need Apple’s device to listen, and I don’t need a Mac to make one.

From Podiobooks.com: On or about Friday, September 22nd, Apple (AAPL) sent a cease and desist notice to a little company called Podcast Ready, who make a nifty little take-anywhere podcatching application called myPodder.

“While Apple, of course, has no general objection to proper use of the descriptive term ‘podcast’ as part of a trademark for goods and services in the podcasting field, it cannot allow marks that go beyond this legitimate use and infringe on Apple’s rights in POD and IPOD.”

Let me reiterate, I love Apple, but I personally don’t see why iPod has to be implied by podcasting.

7th Son: Book Two - DECEIT

Well, I just flew back from Podcast Island, and boy are my virtual arms tired! ::rimshot:: Sorry, anyways, if you are a member of Second Life, you should definitely check this out. They had a launch party for J.C Hutchins' podiobook, the sequel to his excellent book. After the big announcement, we were treated to an early listen of chapters one and two. They are going to continue to play it so you still have a chance to listen to it. The official release date is Sept. 26, 2006, on his podcast and website at jchutchins.net. 7S/SL | Teleport to Podcast Island

On Ep. #27 - Duel of the Bards!

I just finished listening to Michael and Evo’s Wingin’ It #75 which was recorded LIVE at DragonCon. These guys are just the coolest, crazy sunzabitches out there. Mur Lafferty of Geek Fu Action Grip pushed all the right buttons! And music was provided by George Hrab.

If you’ve never heard WI! (first, shame on you) then you HAVE to listen to this one. You’ll either be horribly disgusted or piss your pants in laughter and wish you knew all the in-jokes! Maybe both!

Speaking of both (no, not beer, Charlie), it was suggested on that podcast that there should be a deathmatch between George Hrab and Jonathan Coulton. I decided said deathmatch, or Doodle Duel of the Bards, would be on my next podcast.

So, what I need from you, dear listeners and readers, is for you to vote for your favorite podsafe song by these musicians.

Visit these links and drop me a comment or seven and let me know!
